Chicago is full of history and mystery and exploring its iconic nicknames offers an exciting way to learn about the city.”

CHICAGO, IL, UNITED STATES, October 29, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The fourth book in Ima Kidd’s Chicago Kidz Iconic Nickname Series entitled Second To None: Why Is Chicago Known As The Second City? will be released this November by Kuumba Enterprises LLC and Cultureel Stories.

The book features rhyming verses and vibrant illustrations to showcase the winning cultural attractions that Chicago offers to children and adults alike.

In the story, The Chicago Kidz are the main characters, expressing pride in their hometown which offers amazing food, entertainment, beaches, parks, sports, museums, architecture, music and a host of other things to do, places to go, and people to see in the city that is “Second To None!” For example, the kids highlight uniquely Chicago foods like deep-dish and tavern-style pizza, hot dogs and Polish sausages with flavorful toppings, ribs and chicken with special sauces, and popcorn and ice cream invented in the city.

The creatives behind Ima Kidd (a composite pseudonym) also uncover the history behind Chicago’s “Second City” nickname in an appendix. A rivalry with New York City prompted by a writer from NYC on assignment in Chicago offers a compelling rationale for the nickname. However, other possibilities, including Chicago’s large population and the city’s rebuilding after a major fire, are also discussed.

The book is a fun and engaging read for children ages 3-10 and the adults who love to read with them. Ima Kidd said, “Our books are great for kids who are learning to read and reading to learn! Chicago is full of history and mystery and exploring its iconic nicknames offers an exciting way to learn about the city.”

A “Second To None” music book trailer will also be releasing in November as well. Check out all of the music book trailers on The Chicago Kidz YouTube Channel: click here!
